Prudence and Madness

Despite the heavy rains and the flooded roads and streets, some Plurkers and I still managed to go to Glorietta and Greenbelt 3 for an evening of detoxification via Plurkfiesta, a.k.a. food fest, Wall-E watching, and coffee tambay.

The meetup place was at Powerbooks Glorietta 3.  I was the first one to arrive as I was eager to have time to browse books before the other plurkers came.  After a while, Arbet (Captain Plurk), Allan (Holy Billycoy), Juned (Juned), Shari (rakshari), and Robby (reemyroby) arrived.  We got to meet Jane (Yogajane) who dropped by Powerbooks before going somewhere else with a friend.  Arpee (Tabachoyman) was supposed to be meeting us for dinner too, but got discouraged by the flooded roads.  After a while, we went over to Powerbooks Greenbelt to meet with Manolo (Gareon), L.A. (p365d), and Mica (micamyx).  We bought tickets for movie first before going to The Kitchen for dinner (read my food experience at the Kitchen here at my new food blog post).

When dinner’s done, we went up to the cinemas to watch our movie for the night, Wall-E.  Also joining us then were Kel (mistervader) and Berniemack (Berniemack).  Wall-E’s a fun movie and personally, I think it’ll be good date movie, especially for the new couples or those who’ve started to regularly date one another.  Come on, how can anyone refuse to hold hands with one’s date once Wall-E and Eve (E-vah?) gets all mushy on the big screen?  I think Kel would agree with me on this one.  June, though, thought it’s just an “awww” cutesy movie.  What do you think?

I don’t know if I’ll make a separate movie review post.  But I just might because I love searching and looking at the screenshots from the movie and might, as well, put all of those pictures in a post.

Movie did bring the plurkers good mood, despite that outside it’s still raining cats and hamsters (*thud* *squeak* *thud* *squeak*).  Coffee from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf makes for a nice wrap-up for the Plurkfiesta night.  We also ran into Nina (evilmartian), Ryan (ryan_h) and Carlo (carloreid).

Can’t wait for the next Plurkfiesta. I just hope I won’t be on hospital duty when another one comes up.

UPDATE

Actually, this is more like a postscript.  Just wanted to share that, coming home from the Plurkfiesta, I got to Monumento at around 3 a.m. (it’s my route when I’m going home from a gimmick and sadly, there’s just no other available feasible routes). I was already aboard a jeepney which was waiting for more passengers when a bunch of street urchins were hastily running towards us.  I was afraid they’re going to board the jeep and hijack it or something.  They ran past us and I heard from the other people around the jeep and those out on the street that those guys were actually running from a gang whom they’ve had a fight that midnight.  A couple of the guys running actually had stab wounds and were going towards the MCU hospital.

That incident reminded me of the numerous patients I had in the hospital where I’m working.  And it saddens me that these people are in such a sorry state that they see fighting as a normal part of everyday life.  I noticed that these are the type of people who don’t even have enough money for basic needs nor do they have enough to feed their family, but would go out on a drinking spree every night.  I pity those most of the time, though sometimes I wanted to throw chairs at them because of the way they act, just so to shake some sense in them.  Sigh.
