For a time, I’ve been quiet about the country’s recent political turmoil, the commotion the scrapped ZTE-NBN deal has created in all aspects of the society, most especially when witnesses started showing up and spilling what dark knowledge they have about the shady, corrupt dealings involving the higher-ups in the government. The media has been covering the political events carefully and is trying to expose different angles that relate to it. There has been increased calls for the ouster of the president through rallies and even blogs (see one here and an “eager” one here). Masses were held to support the search for truth and for accountability and many civic groups are exerting effort to contribute, at least, financially to this search. People’s interest have been rising and were more openly talking about it and its implication to our country’s situation today. Even the tinderas in the side street palengke are prattling about how Neri is an indecisive little **** (insert your favorite four-letter word description for him here).

With these, I don’t think it’s true that people don’t care about what’s happening in the country nowadays. I disagree that people have gone weary on people power and for vigilance. It may be that people express themselves in many different ways and would take on different routes to get to a common goal.

As for myself, yes, I’ve kept quiet because I want better reception for my antennae. I’ve decided to keep still for little while longer and try to see and hear what else that I should be seeing and hearing. I’ve to admit that I’m still looking for something, a “something” that I saw when I was watching the impeachment trial of Estrada on TV while reviewing for a neuroanatomy shifting exam and eleven senators voted not to pursue examining an envelope that could have contained evidence against Estrada.

I think that’s what I’m still looking for. Not because I’ve grown weary, but rather, I’ve become increasingly more wary of the depth, complexity, and enormity of the current political landscape.

It’s good to be wary. It took me time to decide. I trust my gut feelings too. I’ve made my stand.

Filipinos never learned. Everytime we oust a seating President, our economy nose dives.

The 1st PP, the world admired us. (1) For having a seating President to rather withdraw than shoot fellow Filipinos. (2) For showing the world what Filipinos are capable of when “truly” united.

But we bungled our chance. We witnessed the Cory administration shoot protesting farmers, soldiers shooting each other during the coup years and she left a country in energy crisis

The 2nd PP, the world laughed at us. We allowed mob rule, rather than the rule of law, as a consequence

We have so many hypocrites and opportunists in our midst. The issue here is not who is clean and who is not. Rather, people fighting over spoils.

Yes, there must be change. But Rule of reason and law must prevail, rather than instigating the emotions of people to get outraged when these noisy ones do not necessarily represent the majority. Even 1 M people in rally will not and can not represent the majority. It’ s the pareto principle at work.

Right now we have a divided nation. I hope with our actions, we will not gamble the future. And the next generation will not suffer the consequences of this generations actions..

Don’t wanna say this but… let’s not oust Pres. Gloria ok?

I voted for her. Maybe I’m blind… but I still believe in her.
I still believe that she has the capability to solve the economic issues of this country. I believe that during her term, the peso could actually be like this: $1 = P30.

Yes, her husband is corrupt. Yes, people around her are corrupt. Yes, she might be evil… But, let’s not deny that she also has her own achievements.. (especially, with that driver she saved from getting his head cut off by terrorists, in spite of the grunts from US etc..).

She is not perfect. Her government is not perfect. There is no perfect institution in this world. Even the Catholic Church commits mistakes.

She is not the perfect President of the century, of this country… But SHE IS THE RIGHT PRESIDENT!

This is like having a boyfriend… you are not looking for the perfect one… but THE RIGHT ONE!

I mean, come on. If Gloria is not here, who is the other best President? Noli De Castro? Loren Legarda? Though I prefer Loren over Noli.. Long live the women!
