Windows Vista Home Basic was installed in it and so far, I’m quite happy about how it runs, despite the fears that some of my most used programs won’t run on it. I really cannot give an adequate review of the computer, as it’s, after all, my first laptop. But the things that I’m looking for in a laptop right now is just the speed by which it runs with word processing, adobe photoshop, and browsers open. And so far it works fine. I doubt if it will still run smoothly with games installed but since, I’m not really a gamer, that’s just okay with me.
What I really want to try now is to connect to the Internet in wi-fi hotspots. As I know very few wi-fi hotspots, I hope my dear blog readers could help me out in compiling a list of wi-fi hotspots in Metro Manila, whether free or not.
This is what I’ve gathered so far:
From The Free Man Travels:
- Burger King - Timog (free)

- Pier One, The Fort, Taguig City (BayanTel)
- Pier One, Tomas Morato, Quezon City (BayanTel)
- Shell Maya vicinity (corner Buendia & Ayala Ave., Makati) {name: tsunami}
- Captain’s Bar, Mandarin Oriental, Makati
- Placemat Pinoy Cafe in Tomas Morato cor. Sct. Castor, Quezon City
- Italliani’s, Greenbelt 2 {name: wireless, ISP: Globe}
- Teriyaki Boy in Buendia (Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue) cor. Jupiter Street {Jupiter Suites}
- Starbucks Greenbelt 3 near the lagoon
- Mabini cor. Salas (linksys)

- WalterMart along Pasong Tamo-Pasay Road (Linksys)
- Masas, and Greenbelt 2 area
- Baang Coffee Shop, Timog Avenue, QC

I hope you, people, can help me out with this. Much appreciated if you can tell me wifi hotspots at TriNoma, as it is the place which I frequent the most, besides SM North EDSA.
Which wifi hotspots do you know?

Starbucks in Shaw Blvd. still offers free Wi-Fi. So does Krispy Kremes at the Fort.
And you can also surf from anywhere at Gateway mall for free.
BTW, I’ve tagged you for a meme.
Hope you don’t mind!

to JM:
Thanks! Will be posting those here, if it isn’t on the list already.
to itot54joni:
Desktops are still the best, especially if you want to handle lots of data. But I love the portability of the laptop.
to Arbet:
‘Ala pa ako pambili ng wi-fi enabled phone eh. Ahahaha. :-p
to Alfred:
Thanks!
to dr_clairebear:
Thanks for all the info! I’ll keep those in mind. I don’t go often to Gateway, though.
to Jon:
I got the laptop for P39,999, o% installment 6 months or 12 months. Bili ka na! I think my dad was glad that I bought the laptop. That way, he can have the desktop all to himself. Hehehehe.
to Schumey:
Thanks! Though I’m not sure about the blog anywhere part. I’m still a bit afraid taking this laptop in many other places. Probably when it’s not so new anymore hehehe
I just might get it — when I’m done with my current laptop payments! (18 months end on April)
I’m particularly interested in this model because it has gaming specs already (NVidia GeForce) — one just has to add another 1GB memory and it’s gametime! Plus I could use it for software development.

to Jon Limjap:
Get the 4520 with 160 GB HD! You’ll have to add another 10K though.
Gaming? I can use this laptop for gaming?! Just add another 1 GB mem?! Whoa! That’s surely tempting…you shouldn’t have told me that. Ahaha.
Hehe, well, this:
Video Type: NVIDIA GeForce® 7000M with up to 896 MB of TurboCache
is good enough for most games, plus Windows Vista Aero glass effects.
