Prudence and Madness

You see, I have this thing for interviews. I like getting to know people and letting people know a bit more about me. And so, here’s another blogger I was able to convince that my life is an interesting one that she should waste time knowing.

Here are Micamyx’s questions and my answers:

1. Why “Prudence and Madness”?

— The title can be interpreted in two ways.

• The name Prudence is a pseudonym I used in high school. The name is based on a character played by Jennifer Grey in the movie, “Stroke of Midnight“, which is a modern-day Cinderella story. I added “Madness” because, originally, this is only a personal blog in which I write my daily rants and raves, tales of numerous mad things that happen in my life.
• A “series of prudence and madness” is one of the best ways to describe my current life. I wouldn’t call myself prude but I’m not exactly the careless, adventurous type. I’m a balance of the two.

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of blogging in your own point of view?

— First of all, blogging can be therapeutic. You feel down and out or raging mad and you want to get it all out? Just blog so you don’t have to beat the living daylights out of your enemy. Haha. It can also be environment-friendly. Instead of tearing paper to pieces when you’re frustrated, just type it all away. But, of course, there are also bloggers who still keep the regular kind of journal. I wouldn’t blame them because I do have my own offline journal, too, where I keep my dirtiest secrets . Another advantage is that you gain a lot of friends. Eventually, you’ll get to meet in the real world those who’re frequently commenting in your blog. Well, that is, if you go attend blogger meetups.

The number one disadvantage, of course, is you lose a bit of your so-called privacy. Unless you make your blog viewed by invite only, then a lot of strangers are going to stumble upon your blog, read up your life, and some can get very obsessed with you (oh yeah, stalkers! Bring it on!). And maybe, worse, your relatives could be reading your entries too! So you just have to be careful with what you post. Don’t reveal too much intimate details. Even if my dad keep on asking me the URL of my blog, I don’t give it to him. TOO MUCH SENSITIVE INFORMATION ONLINE. Haha.

3. Are you experiencing the so-called “writer’s block”?

— Oh yeah! I wrote about it a lot of times. See here, here, and here. I call it being artistically constipated. But there is also a phenomenon called creative diarrhea. I don’t take anything for those. They just sort of resolve on its own. Hehe.

4. Give us three blogsites that you visit often.

— Okay, this would be easy since you didn’t ask for the top 3, which means I can just mention anything that comes right off my head. Hmmm…

• Noisy, Noisy Man | Your Daily Dose of Retard - I read this blog though sometimes (or most of the time) I can’t tell which of his statements are true and which are not. But seriously, he’s funny.
• The Sassy Lawyer’s Journal - this I read for serious commentaries on law and politics. And yeah, she seems to be a cool mom, too.
• Atheista - I frequent his blog because he’s an atheist and a medical student. Potent combination. But most of the time I don’t leave comments. Hehe.

5. Final message to your readers.

— Please do keep coming back! I like reading comments and commenting. And yeah, I like interviewing people, too. Don’t worry, I don’t gossip.
