My Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007
Okay, finally I’ve come up with my own list (after reading everybody else’s haha) for Ms. Janette Toral’s Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007. No, I’m no copycat. I made my own list! I didn’t realize it would be that difficult and time-consuming. Most of the blogs I frequent had been blogging for years, and so aren’t qualified for this contest anymore. So, have to look for the “newbies”.
Here’s what I’ve come up with (they’re not ranked, mind you):
Past Lives by Art Ilano. Don’t read this blog if you want an update in his life. He doesn’t write about his current situation. As the title suggests, written in this blog are all about what his life HAS BEEN…his elementary days, highschool, and college life. A trip down memory lane is how you might call it.
The D Spot by Dine Racoma. Yeah, I thought she’s been blogging for years, being popular and all (all pinoy bloggers know her). But I was proven wrong. So, hey, I’ve got to nominate this blog. Who knew that a sexy mom can blog so well? Definitely an influential blog.
Cafe Leone by Dan Leone. This list isn’t about emerging Filipino blogs only and I really just have to include this one. How does an atheist parent raise an atheist kid? Hmmm…I think Dan Leone is one of the few who could definitely answer that well.
Unsent: Notes To and From My Former Self by JJ Junio. I never knew this quiet and serious looking guy could write such funny political commentaries. I especially like his commentaries on Vick “Yorgay” Magshayshay interview. Hilarious!
Cokskiblue by Coy. Welcome to the home of pinoy’s funniest video blogs! Haha. I can’t believe at the amount of time and effort this guy puts into his vlogs.
Make Money Online With a 13-Year Old by Carl Ocab. Actually, he’s already 14 years old (or so he says). Nevertheless, I think he’s still one precocious kid. I remember I was only engaged in reading tons of Anne Rice and Christopher Pike books when I was 14 (but, of course, there was still no internet or blogging back then.)
From the Boondocks: A Blog on the Igorot/iCordi Indigenous Peoples in the Philippine Cordilleras. I especially like the post, “Who Owns Our Place Names and Icons?”. This blog has raised much awareness about the condition in the northern part of the country.
The Weblog of Paolo Mendoza: Litanies of a Philosophical Bastard. Okay, until now he hasn’t answered my question in his cbox. But still I will vote for him. Hehe. I especially a video he posted of him singing. I forgot the title of the song. Actually, that was my question in his cbox. If you don’t want to hear him singing, you can just read his blog fictions. There was one post in which I really got scared. Who wouldn’t be scared if a mother started exorcising his son so that he wouldn’t turn gay?
Gibbs Cadiz. This blog is more like a book/movie/theater play review blog. But I especially won’t forget about his post on creationism vs. evolution. Now, that made me want to watch “Inherit the Wind”. If I can find it.
Urikalization by Uri Kalish. Yes, this is another non-pinoy blog. This blog was started by a man named Uri Kalish, a 32-year old software engineer from Israel. I don’t know how I can describe his blog. So, for you to idea of what he writes, just see the following titles: Doomsday Rock Coming Your Way at 15 Miles per Second , If God was a Tiny Purple Simulated Armadillo, Would You Still Go To Church?, Time Travelers, Plea

thanks, Tess, am very much honored. there is so much to share in the blogosphere, and I am glad to touch the hearts of my dear Readers.
hey thanks! sorry for not responding as fast as you wanted me to.. that song is Everything by Lifehouse. thanks again.
Wow. Thank you Tess! I’m glad you find my vlogs funny. I hope I can keep you all entertained.

At nagulat ako ang laki pala ng banner ko sa taas. Hehe. I have a smaller one if you wanna change it.
Hi,
God bless.
Thanks for the shout-out. It’s quite an honor to be nominated by an established blogger like you
Very cool, thanks!
to Sexy Mom: No problem! I’ve been frequenting your blog, though I may have not left that many comments. I enjoyed my every visit
to Paolo: Thanks! Now I don’t have to spend sleepless nights just trying to recall the name of that song. Haha.
to Coy: Nope, I like it big. Hehe. But still, thanks!
to Bill: I’ve been in the blogosphere for quite a while, but I’m not sure if I’m “established” already. Haha. Thanks for visiting!
to Uri: No problem! I’ve enjoyed every visit to your blog.
hi tess, it was great to find a comment from you on my creationism vs. evolution post. what an even bigger surprise to see my blog in your top 10 list. thank you very much.
Thank you so much, Tess! I am a human first and an atheist somewhere else down the list after husband, dad etc. Blogging has allowed me to some wonderful humans from all sides of the religious and political spectrum…..especially you, Tess!
Thanks again and please keep up the great work. You truly are an inspiration!
Have fun!
Dan Leone
