  1. Batman is a mortal while Superman is virtually invincible. Who knows the pain of living better than a mortal? Batman knows he can be in mortal peril but still he surges on to face danger in order to fight for what is right. Superman will not easily be in mortal peril (unless he lets Lex Luthor to stick kryptonite into him) and he knows it, and that’s why he’s confident to confront danger, not because he’s as brave as Batman.
  2. Batman is brains and brawn (gadgets + strategy + strength). He sets up a strategy: what weapons/gadgets to bring, what transport to use, etcetera. Superman just flies, lifts, throws…all brawn (just in case, you want to be more correct, the word “brawn” isn’t exactly appropriate for Superman because his powers aren’t the result of how well-developed his muscles are. He’s an alien, dammit).
  3. Batman dresses in cool goth black colors; Superman always dresses in country flag colors. Black briefs will always be sexy; red briefs look sexy on lifeguards only.
  4. Batman is an entrepreneur. His businesses generate jobs and incomes for many people who work for him. His work contributes a lot to the improvement of the economy. Superman is a reporter. Enough said.
  5. Batman represents what people can become if they really strive and work hard, and to be better than his previous self while Superman represents the things most people want to have: superpowers, to be better than everybody else. Of the two, I think Batman represents what humanity should be striving for. People must look deep within themselves, amidst the fears, and find the strength to do good. Superman only inspires people to look up into the sky when in deep shit and pray that they’ll receive help coming down from the sky.

no question about it. batsy is the greatest of them all, he could take down the whole justice league by himself if he wanted to. he is 10 steps ahead of everyone else, making him the most dangerous man alive (comics wise of course). only problem? is he’s human … so space battles isn’t is forte.

    supes is just a dork.

pero honestly chuck norris pa rin! he he …

  2. Prudence Says:

to zerovoltage: “only problem? is he’s human … ” -> his weakness is his greatest strength :-)

  3. zerovoltage Says:

oh, i meant in intergalactic space battle sense^ … :) that’s pretty much dominated by the green lanterns which don’t even need space crafts to travel …

  4. Joni Says:

    spiderman rules! LOL. jk

  5. phantazmagor Says:

Joni’s comment may not be a joke at all. Spider-Man indeed rules.

    Why?

Spidey’s the best hero laymen can relate to (Batman is a multi-millionaire while Superman is from another planet). Spider-Man is an ordinary kid annointed by fate (with a bite from a “radioactive spider,” identified in the original The Amazing Spider-Man comic book series) to serve an extraordinary purpose - oh, well, saving mankind.

Throughout the comic books, cartoon series, and movies, Spider-Man, of all the three, is the one best depicted - he’s a three-dimensional character, with the alter-ego Peter Parker being as famous as he is - putting into light the struggles with teenhood, family life, friendships, strange bonds with the villains’ alter-egos, and, of course, love life.

I give credit to Stan Lee for creating the most realistic, bestselling, blockbusting superhero to date.

its very interesting:) and I agree with you…I like batman better, too

  7. Prudence Says:

to phantazmagor: What I don’t really like is the idea of a spider bite giving somebody extraordinary powers. I admire Batman because he doesn’t have the “superhero” powers but he’s still a superhero for me because he always push himself to the limits to be able to defend what he think is right, be it that he would always be brooding about the evil things that happened to him and his family. I admire that he’s overcome his fears to be able to achieve what is right. Being a multi-millionaire is not essential to his being a superhero, it only becomes instrumental to his being a hero because perhaps without the money he wouldn’t be able to come up with his amazing gadgetry. But even, if without the money and the gadgets, he has the mind of a brave person and that’s what I admire most :-)

The greatest superheroes are the ordinary people who learn to care, help, love, and live…and still survive. ;)

  9. jun.anteola Says:

hmmm… this seems like an article written by Batman, in insecure mode. LOL. Joke.
i’m for Batman. my nephew says i am Batman. his dad is Superman. and he is both Spider-Man and Flash. :-)

  10. cars Says:

i agree, i agree. :D i just hope that there would be more “batmans” in real life. hehe :)
    dropping by.

    unang dalaw.

  12. Darwin Says:

Superman fan parin ako. Yun na kasi ang nakasanayan ko simula nung maliit pa ako (well, maliit parin ako but you know what I mean) kahit na masakit sa mata yung costume nya. hehe

  13. Prudence Says:

to Shari: That’s why I love Batman :-)
to jun.anteola: I can deal with an insecure Batman but I can’t deal with a superhero with super duper mega powers. I’m Catwoman, by the way. hehe. Really I am! A woman who loves cats :-)
to cars: thanks for dropping by :-)
to ninong: Yeah, I think I’ve read something like that, too. And I’ve posted something about batman and superman before but I had to post this because something happened to that blog post hehe. I think I’d love to read on the history of all the comic superheroes :-)
to Darwin: Yes, I understand :-) Pero bading si Superman :-)

  14. phantazmagor Says:

Good point. Can’t blame people feeling icky with the idea of becoming a somebody after a silly mishap (being a superhero after being bitten)…

I might seem like writing outside the loop now, so… park!

Batman’s second on my list (wink, wink).

  15. Do you want to be a superhero? | drivebyshooter.net Says:

[...] They can’t quite give you superpowers, but the gadgets listed under Gizmodo’s Gadget Guide to Becoming a Superhero can help you kick ass - geek style. If you try hard enough, maybe they can also help you become cooler than Batman and Superman. [...]

  16. leahnoche Says:

I think that Batman is the best obviously. I mean, he has realistic, self righteous villians that have realistic weaknesses that aren’t aliens (or hot bald men) bent on domination. They want revenge on Batman/Society for some “self-righteous” reason and that is what gives Batman a better story line. And as a hero he plans out his moves and that proves him to be a better superhero b/c he can assume all the risks involved in his fights and save the day regardless the fact that it might cost him his life.
